Diary - March 2014
Signs of Spring
After a wet and windy winter, signs of Spring are beginning to glimmer (intermittently!). In between times, lots of rain - resulting in spectacular sights at the beautiful Ystradfellte Waterfalls, and plenty of powercuts!
To add to the restrictions caused by the weather, the yard succumbed to the equine equivalent of a cold. This has meant that the no-work regime had to continue until everyone was feeling better! So, more lounging around, just being horses...
Always keen to find fun in anything and everything, Oscar enjoys his new "toy" - a tonne of sand...
whilst Horatio does his best to lead his wayward hens!
... is particularly peaceful at the moment, allowing us all time to stand and stare
[What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.]

In his boredom, McGee asked Victoria, the chicken, to entertain him - she wasn't impressed.
